A request to stop sales calls

You can ask a seller to place you on its own Do Not Call list, even if your number is not on the National Registry. Keep the date, wording, and any response. A prior business relationship does not give a seller unlimited permission to ignore a company-specific request.

Withdrawing permission for robocalls or texts

If you previously agreed to covered calls or texts, a later opt-out may withdraw that permission. We review how you gave consent, how you revoked it, and whether the later communications were covered by your request. Processing periods, exceptions, and applicable court decisions can affect the analysis.

Do not assume a request about one message category automatically stops every unrelated communication from the business. The FCC has delayed a cross-category revocation requirement until January 31, 2027; timing and scope require review.

What to preserve

  • Your original signup or consent, if available.
  • The STOP text, email, or notes of your telephone request.
  • Any acknowledgment and messages received afterward.
  • Dates and descriptions distinguishing sales messages from account or service notices.
